None.

3. COURSE INTAKE & ADMISSION

Maximum 60 students will be given admission to the course based on First-Come-First-Serve basis. All the students of the MAMO College are eligible for free enrolment for the course. The enrolment notification will be issued for the course well in advance of the commencement of the course.

5. COURSE PREAMBLE

Phonetics is defined as “The branch of linguistics that deals with the production, transmission and reception of speech sounds and their representation by written symbols.” Phonetics study is meant for the understanding of the technique in which syllables and words are pronounced in a language. This course helps you to understand the root cause of the mispronunciation and would be useful in developing the correct articulation of English language after overcoming the mother tongue influence. It also aims to develop understanding of sound system of English language which may help the learner in developing the pronunciation and speaking skill of English language

8. COURSE OBJECTIVES

Learners are expected to

(a) Improve your pronunciation skills

(b) Understand the disparity between spelling and pronunciation in English.

(c) Develop the ability to identify and produce English key sounds.

(d) Increase self-confidence in the way you speak. 

(e) Identify and learn to resolve mother tongue influence in English pronunciation.

(f) Know the rules of word stress and stress shifts in English
